PVB Interlayer
PVB Interlayer are used in laminated safety glass. The acronym PVB stands for Polyvinyl Butyral. This film is placed between two panes of glass and bonded tightly to both. The safety level of the glass depends directly on the thickness of the PVB layer.
What makes this glass so durable is that, even if it breaks, the shards remain adhered to the film. As a result, the glass maintains its integrity and continues to act as a barrier, making forced entry extremely difficult. Despite the surface damage, the panel stays in place.
Laminated safety glass with PVB is commonly used in commercial buildings to enhance security and reduce injury risk.
