uPVC
uPVC is a type of plastic commonly found in everyday life. The abbreviation stands for unplasticized polyvinyl chloride-a thermoplastic material. The term “thermoplastic” refers to materials that are manufactured and shaped at specific temperatures, making them moldable within that temperature range. A notable feature of thermoplastics is that this process can be repeated.
This means the material can be reheated and reshaped multiple times-up to the point where it begins to degrade. In window manufacturing, uPVC is used because it is UV-stable, exceptionally durable, and highly resistant to wear. The material was first developed by German physicist Fritz Klatte, born in 1880.
