Burglar-Resistant Glass
Types of Burglar-Resistant Glass
We offer a wide range of burglar-resistant glass solutions tailored to different security needs and protection levels. These are classified from P1 to P8, with higher numbers indicating stronger resistance to break-ins. Glass rated P1-P4 is generally sufficient for private homes, offering protection against basic burglary attempts, while P5-P8 glass is recommended for higher-risk locations such as offices or retail stores.

Laminated Safety Glass
Laminated glass consists of two or more panes bonded with a PVB (polyvinyl butyral) interlayer. This construction enhances the safety of your home and provides additional benefits like sound insulation and UV protection. The same technology is used in automotive windshields to prevent shattering and improve durability.
Tempered Glass
Tempered glass undergoes thermal treatment that significantly increases its strength. If broken, it shatters into small, blunt pieces, minimizing the risk of injury. In addition, our tempered glass offers higher resistance to temperature changes and helps maintain indoor comfort by reducing overheating or excessive cooling.
What Is a Glass Unit Made Of?
Glass units are key components in modern window systems, made of multiple layers that form one integrated system. Each unit includes two or more panes of glass spaced apart and filled with an insulating gas-typically argon or krypton-to improve thermal and acoustic insulation.
The edges of the glass are sealed with spacer bars, often containing moisture-absorbing materials to prevent condensation inside the unit. OKNOPLAST uses Warmatec spacers, made from a combination of stainless steel and low-conductivity plastic. Warmatec spacers reduce thermal bridging and can improve the window’s overall U-factor by up to 8%.
Insulated Glass Units
These advanced glass packages improve comfort, energy efficiency, and safety. For the most demanding applications, we recommend the 4Xglass package, which=when paired with premium anti-burglary hardware (RC2 level)-is among the most secure solutions available on the market.
How Do Burglar-Resistant Windows Work?
“Burglar-resistant windows” is a common term, but what makes a window truly secure? Several features work together to provide protection:
Alarm Integration – For the highest level of security, a burglar alarm system can be added to complement the window’s built-in protection.
Locking Handles – A lockable handle adds a basic but effective layer of security.
Anti-Burglary Hardware – Our windows include reinforced hardware with steel anchoring points. The Safety Plus system uses steel fasteners and mushroom-shaped locking pins placed throughout the frame to prevent forced opening.
Laminated Glass Units – More glass and PVB layers make the window harder to break. Laminated glass also holds together when shattered, reducing the risk of injury.
What You Should Know About Burglar-Resistant Glass
- Burglar-resistant glass is classified from P1 to P8. P1–P4 is ideal for homes, P5–P8 for high-risk areas.
- Our glass units feature multiple panes and insulating gases, sealed with Warmatec spacers for improved thermal performance.
- True burglar-resistant windows include locking handles, reinforced hardware, and optional alarm systems.
- We use tempered and laminated glass that crumbles into small, safe fragments upon breakage.
- The 4Xglass package with RC2-rated hardware offers one of the safest solutions on the market.
