Condensation
Condensation occurs when water vapor in the air turns into liquid as the air cools. This happens because warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. When the air cools down and reaches saturation, excess moisture begins to condense-often on cooler surfaces like window panes.
To help prevent condensation, it’s important to monitor indoor humidity levels. The optimal indoor humidity is around 50%, with an acceptable range of ±10%, assuming an indoor temperature of approximately 68°F.
To reduce excessive humidity:
- Ventilate rooms regularly by opening windows
- Use modern ventilation systems when available
- Pay extra attention to high-moisture areas such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens, where frequent ventilation is essential
Without proper humidity control, condensation can lead to mold growth, which affects indoor air quality and building integrity.
