Window and Door Contact Sensor
This is a specialized sensor that plays a key role in security systems for homes and other buildings. Its main function is to detect unauthorized opening of windows or doors and immediately notify the alarm control panel. Below is more detailed information about the contact sensor:
Construction:
The contact sensor consists of two main components. The first is a magnet, which is mounted on the movable part of a window or door. The second component is a tube containing electrical contacts, which is mounted on the fixed part of the window or door frame. When the window or door is closed, both elements are positioned close to each other, allowing current to flow through the circuit.
Operation:
When the window or door is opened, the magnet moves away from the tube with the contacts, causing the electromagnetic circuit to break. This interruption is immediately registered by the alarm system, which responds by triggering an alarm.
Early Detection:
The contact sensor allows for detection of a break-in attempt at a very early stage, before the intruder enters the building. Unlike motion detectors, which respond only when the intruder is already inside, the contact sensor works proactively, increasing the chance of deterring a potential burglar.
Discreetness:
Contact sensors are typically small and discreet, making them difficult to notice. As a result, they do not disrupt the appearance of windows and doors while effectively performing their function.
Versatility:
Contact sensors can be used not only on exterior windows and doors, but also inside the building-for example, on doors to rooms that require additional security.
